Allocation

Allocation decides how big your copied trades are and how much of an account each master can use.

What it means

How it works

Every connected account has an allocation budget of 100%. When you follow a master, you give them a slice of it, for example 40%. That slice is used to size every trade copied from that master: the app describes it as “Copy 40% of each trade”. The slices of all masters on one account can't add up to more than 100%, and paused copies keep their slice.

Allocation doesn't move or lock any money. Your funds stay in your broker; allocation only decides how big the orders TradePilot places for you are.

Set it when you start copying

Clicking Start Copying opens Copy Trading Settings. The top shows the master's details and which of their accounts you'll copy. Use Which of Your Accounts? lists your accounts with how much of each is already used and how much is free. The slider can only go as high as the free amount on the account you pick. The summary at the bottom shows your balance, this follow's % and the dollar amount it represents.

How your trade size is calculated

How it works

TradePilot never copies the master's quantity 1:1. It first works out a full-size trade for your account, then multiplies it by your allocation. That way a $5,000 account and a $50,000 account both get a position that fits them. The method depends on the broker; pick a tab below and try the calculator.

Each morning TradePilot records your account's day-start balance. When the master buys an option, it looks up how many contracts suit that balance at that contract cost (option price × 100) in a fixed size table: bigger accounts and cheaper contracts get more. Your allocation is then applied, rounded to a whole number, and you always get at least 1 contract.

For forex and gold, TradePilot looks at how much of their free margin the master committed to the trade (for example 10%). It commits the same share of your free margin, multiplied by your allocation, and converts that into lots using the margin one lot needs. The result is rounded to 0.01 lot, with 0.01 as the minimum.

You can raise or lower a master's allocation at any time from Active Copies. The maximum is whatever the other masters on that account leave free. The new value is used from the master's next trade; positions already open keep their size.
